tips for buying kids clothes

I often shop second-hand for our kid's clothes. But I've seen some sales recently that make it just as affordable to buy on clearance. Here are a few tips for buying kids clothes online..and a few of my favorite pieces for preschool!

1. Gap Button Down Cardigan, $29  2. Janie and Jack Ribbon Loop Barrette, $12  3. Gap Flutter T, $7  4. H&M Leggings, $15  5. Old Navy Ruffle Dress, $11.  6. Janie and Jack Ruffle Pocket Short $16

Buy clothing items that can be layered. A basic cardigan carries short sleeved t-shirts into fall. I love the navy cardigan with pink pockets, just the right touch of color.

Gap and Old Navy frequently have online sales on weekdays. Often the deal is 25-40% off a full priced item. It works great with higher priced items like outerwear.

Clearance items are often picked over, and it can be a challenge to make outfits. So when selecting a patterned shirt, make sure it would look good with at least 2 pairs of pants/shorts.

1. Gap Active Jacket, $40 2. Junk Food Superhero T, $15 3. Gymboree Lined Active Pant, $20 4. Old Navy Western Shirt, $15 5. Gymboree Terry Short $10

Buy things with multiple uses. Can they wear it to church on sunday, and to preschool on Wednesday? Can the t-shirt be an undershirt for the dress shirt?

If they are headed to preschool, opt for elastic waistbands. They are easier for kids to use independently and the true drawstring pants that cinch tight are a must for our kids.

Search for promo codes before buying. Google the store name along with the phrase "promo code."
