a living room update: new artwork and color advice!

This project sat in my camera for a few weeks (I was waiting to hang the poster...) when I realized: its summertime! We are busy and that project will very likely sit there a few more weeks. So I decided to go ahead and share what I have been up to in our living room!

I have big dreams for our living room space: removing the carpet, wood beams overhead, a resurfaced fireplace, and a nice sectional sofa. That dream is a few years out so I make small updates bit by bit. We took down our mini blinds for curtains (yay!), painted the brass trim on the fireplace, and most recently added a framed poster of our trip to Charleston.

Over spring break we took our two kids to White Point Garden in Charleston, SC. I loved this capture and decided to print it at the local printer. It cost $30 for a 20x28 print.

I have had a few requests about it on Instagram...if you would like a copy here is the artwork for a 20x28 inch poster! (for personal use only, please.)

I added the poster to an IKEA RIBBA frame we had sitting empty in our garage. It isn't a high quality frame (the cover is plexiglass) but it is perfect for our needs and looks nice on the mantle.

The wall needed a focal point and that size frame will do the trick once we hang it.

And now I need your help! The beige walls are still bothering me, especially with our beige carpet. We original talked about adding white planks, but I think the room needs color.
