our kitchen before/after

We started the kitchen remodel in February, and four months later here it is!

A before shot. Not really proud to show it, it was overwhelmingly yellow-toned.

And an after. Lee painted the cabinet doors and we replaced the hardware with classic Rejuvenation Mission D Pulls. It was a complete DIY with the exception of the countertop/backsplash. We had the Ikea Numerar Butcherblock installed with white subway tile from Lowes.

Our cooking space pre-remodel.

We removed the old metal backsplash and installed a new range. We scored a sweet little

vintage cosco cart that fits perfectly between the range and refrigerator.

Before the project began, the nook was our junk collection zone.

An after of the nook/desk area. Notice the new picture? We took that on vacation last March near Saint Simon's Island. Last weekend I had it printed on poster paper and put it in a frame I found on clearance at Target (and spray-painted white).

In total we spent just under $4000.

Notice the curtains? They are pillow covers. They yellow is so cheerful, don't you think?

I'm still adjusting to owning a nice faucet. What, you mean I can pull the hose down and spray the dishes?

To save cost we didn't remove walls or tear out cabinetry. We maximized the space we had. I traded a large toaster oven for a toaster. Friends gave us a smaller microwave. Went from a double sink to a single. The little things really do add up to big things.

Our new kitchen for under $4000! In celebration I am taking off a week from blogging. Have a great week!
