At the beginning of 2015 I was filled to the brim with ideas and motivation, and this year I find myself whispering "keep it simple, keep it simple."
I have considered choosing a word for 2016. Perhaps peace or purpose. But really what comes to mind is enough. God is enough. The life I have been given is enough. And what I really need to do is slow the hustle from a boil to a simmer.
In fact, that may be the very thing I learned last year: creativity thrives with a little wiggle room. When you compartmentalize creativity and give it a box to live in, it feels too constrained. This year I hope to carve more time for creativity: more visits to the park, the local thrift store, even just painting the walls in our home.
I also hope to cook more for my family. Because the ironic thing is that as I've worked more (ahem, sometimes writing recipes for articles), I have less brain power to put dinner on the table. Last night we ate a rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods. (ps I consider that a definite win on weeknights!)
Do you make resolutions or have a word for 2016? What are your goals for yourself or your family?
