I had a moment earlier this week watching Fixer Upper. I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself. We live in a nice neighborhood with a very small home decor budget, and I was tired of sitting on our 9 year old apartment sized, half-dog eaten, IKEA sofa. So I ran a quick sectional search on Craigslist.
Now, its worth mentioning that I've scrolled through pages of Craiglist in the past with no results. The intersection of good quality, good design, and good price is tricky to find! It is also a challenge to find furniture pieces that my designer husband and I both like.
So when I emailed him this leather sectional and he gave the thumbs up (and it was just 1 town over from us, non-smoking, ect ect), we threw the kids in the car and headed over to see it!
Now, the sectional is about 6 years old and has a few scratches. Which was beyond okay with us (have you met our kids and dog?). Most importantly it gives us the seating we were looking for with a touch of style. Purchasing it used we saved about 90% off retail.
While I have not even begun to decorate the new space, I'm so pleased with how the couch fills the room! When family comes to visit I'll no longer have to sit on the floor!
Now the trickiest part is teaching our pup Daisy not to scratch the leather. Any training tips?
