Many of you know I run this website as a solo entrepreneur. The photography, written content, website design, and social shares are done by me (credit definitely goes to my husband Lee for the construction-style DIY projects and brand strategy advice!) Because I am writing my content around school drop-offs and kiddo sick days...at times it feels I can't keep up with other websites who have a team of employees and push out new original content 3-4 times a week.
So here is my encouragement to those who run small businesses, blogs, and Etsy shops: challenge yourself with specific goals but don't try to compete with others. Slow and steady growth is far better than a fast-paced burnout. I intentionally took the past week to slow down and reflect on what projects I would like to complete and share in 2018. And while it was hard for me to slow down over Christmas break, I know that my family and my creative energy needed it.
Now for the most popular blog posts from 2017! I pulled these 10 from my analytics and it was so fun to see what articles readers read the most. All of them were DIY-home design related, and no recipes made the list (although Instagram friends do seem to enjoy them..) Scroll down to see all 10!

It was such a surprise when this post went viral last January! I had no idea it would be so appealing to readers! My husband and I did all of the work which kept the cost low. Several people have emailed with pictures of their bathrooms after trying these colors. And Sherwin-Williams featured it on their Instagram and in their newsletter. So fun!
My husband built this mirror frame from basic pine, we stained it then weathered it a bit. Love how it looks in our master bathroom and a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole mirror.
I learned something this year: readers love a good ceiling fan roundup! In doing research for my home office makeover (see #7) I put together this list of reasonably priced fans. We replaced 3 fans in our home this year and love them all! Added the Hunter Ronan in my office, Hepburn in our master bedroom, and the Signal in our living room.
This article was also the result of me researching the best light pink paint color for my home office. Pink is definitely still on trend!
This was a quick spray-paint project and really popular on Pinterest last spring! Full disclosure the rope did show some mold from rain over time. I will try a different material for the edge this spring.
I painted our half bath a dark blue a few years ago, and when we had a water leak in the space last December we decided to replace wood with a hexagon tile on the floor. A year later we still love it!
This was a fun craft and really inexpensive to make! You just need LED lights, scrap ribbon, and a glue gun to make your own.
